About the rating scale

I rate records on a scale of one (the absolute worst) to ten (the absolute best). Here is how the ratings break down:

Ten out of Ten - 10/10
Nine out of Ten - 9/10
Eight out of Ten - 8/10
Seven out of Ten - 7/10
Six out of Ten - 6/10
Five out of Ten - 5/10
Four out of Ten - 4/10
Three out of Ten -3/10
Two out of Ten - 2/10
One out of Ten - 1/10

Each of my reviews are written after I have listened to the record several times (generally more than ten times). My reviews reflect my very own subjective feelings. Objective music reviews do not exist, no matter what music journalists and other self-proclaimed elitist people want to tell you.

I do not rate a record with the reader in mind. I will not tell you how to feel about a record since we all have different music experiences. The life changing record for one person could be a nothing album for someone else. I really do believe that consumer journalism is dead, and I welcome the modern information society with open arms.

I tend to not use the lower part of the rating scale very often since I find it pointless to write about and review artists that I dislike. This blog is basically an internet fanzine and my true inspiration is to aid other music fans in the search for adorable artists that light up life.

I will always consider each record on its own merits. Each record gets the rating it deserves, nothing more and nothing less. And I will never ever give a record top marks because the artist is hyped up as the flavour of the month.
